Incorporating band resisted exercises into your glute training routines can drastically increase the effectiveness of your workouts.
Used correctly they'll help increase glute activation whilst adding resistance to the exercises you'd normally perform such as; squats, bridges and hip thrusts.
If you're not sure how to incorporate these exercises into your current training regime it's probably easiest to chuck them in as warm-ups or workout finishers; waking the muscles up before a big workout or putting them to sleep after one.
Not sure what I'm talking about right now?
Check out this FREE glute training program I put together a few years back.
That will give you a bit more information on specific exercises you can perform and go some way towards explaining why you're doing what you're doing with the bands.
For the sake of this post I just want to let you know where to get your bands from.
You see, almost every time I'm in the gym training glutes I get someone ask me 'where did you get those bands from?' Sometimes those people are trainers and sometimes they're just curious by-standers witnessing the awesomeness that is my arse in action.
You'll notice a lot of people doing these exercises now-a-days but the effectiveness of your workouts will be drastically reduced if you're using crappy bands, so what I'm going to do is let you know where I get my bands from... because they're THE BEST!
Pullum Resistance Band - 13 Inch
I get the majority of my bands from Pullum Sports because they're strong, durable, reasonably priced and get the job done. With the 13 inch mini-bands I'd recommend going for the purple (15-45lb) band. I started out using the thinner black (10-30lb) bands but everyone I was training at the time progressed beyond that level of resistance very quickly, and I no longer use them at all.
Mark Bell - Hip Circle
The hip circle is now my weapon of choice when it comes to adding resistance to all of the bum stuff I do in the gym and it's the one I recommend everyone get for this sort of work. People often look it up and complain about the price... but TRUST ME it's worth it!
Basically, if you want a stronger/more toned set of bum cheeks then getting one of these bands will no doubt intensify your workouts and amplify your results.
If you already use these bands as part of your training, how do you find them? I'd love to hear your feedback, let me know what you think about them in the comments below.
